Hong Leong Takaful Plans To Add 250 Agents In Kota Baharu

KOTA BAHARU, Oct 18 (Bernama) -- Hong Leong MSIG Takaful Bhd (HLM Takaful) will appoint 250 new agents in Kota Baharu to meet the growing demand for takaful products in the state.
Its chairman Tan Sri A Razak Ramli said in line with this, the company planned to expand its network with the opening of a new branch here.
"At the moment, HLM Takaful has 150 agents led by three agency leaders in Kelantan. Our plan is to add another 250 agents to expand the takaful business.
"The opening of the new premises in Kota Baharu is timely amid the high demand for takaful products as an alternative to insurance plans," he said to reporters after the launch of the new HLM Takaful premises at Wisma Seri Setia here, today.
Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob officiated the launch and presented tithe to asnaf.
A Razak said various initiatives had been undertaken to develop the takaful concept in the east coast including business opportunities programme, entrepreneurship programme with public institutions of higher learning, as well as entrepreneurship programme with non-governmental organisations.
Meanwhile, Ahmad said the encouraging response to takaful products showed that the community especially the Muslims were getting to understand and were more aware of the need for takaful.
"The community are more inclined to take up Shariah-compliant products or instruments. HLM Takaful's role is part of this effort while ensuring there's no forbidden element such as interest," he said.
